100th day
PE celebrated the 100th day of school by dropping 100 tennis balls from the balcony onto the gym floor. Each class was timed to see how long it took them to pick up all 100 tennis balls...one ball at a time. We then did 100 exercises.

Chinese New Year
We celebrated Chinese New Year and the Year of the Pig by using PE "chopsticks" and retrieving food from the PE food buffet. Some of our favorites were beef with broccoli and fortune cookies.

new mats
PE is very excited about our two new mats that can be used for curl-ups, tumbling, and a variety of PE games. Thank you to our PTO for a grant that allowed PE to purchase the new mats.

hoop shoot
As part of our basketball unit, students had the choice to take part in a free throw shooting contest. Each participant got 10 free throws. They competed against other students in their gender and age group. 96 of our 196 third, fourth, and fifth graders chose to take a risk and compete. Thanks to the local Elks club for providing ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Above is a picture of our ribbon winners.

Cup stacking world record
On November 8, Crozet had 295 students take part in setting a new Guinness world record for number of people cup stacking in one day. We were one of 2,833 schools in 25 countries who set the new record at 624,390 people cup stacking in one day. Congratulations!
