Eagles in Action!

Tennis Day at Crozet!

Students played tennis in PE all day.  1st graders had the opportunity to be on the QuickStart tennis courts with players from the UVA men’s tennis team and the Western Albemarle girl’s tennis team.  Then came the big announcement from Miss Lynda (“the tennis lady”) that the 1st graders got to keep the tennis racquets they were playing with and would also get a bag of balls. Thank you to QuickStart tennis!

Eagles in Action!

For the past three Fridays our Kindergarten students had the opportunity to learn various skills that go into t-ball.  They learned the order of the bases, how to run the bases, how to put on a glove, how to field a pop fly, how to field a grounder, and how to bat off a tee.  Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped and to the Carson Raymond Foundation for the equipment they donated to our school so that we can offer t-ball to our kindergarten every year.

Jump Rope for Heart results

We raised $ 8,222.18 for the American Heart Association with our Jump Rope for Heart event. All students took part in the event and in helping to create the giant heart made up of each student’s individually designed heart for the PE bulletin board.

Eagles in Action!

The “tennis lady” (Lynda Harrell) visited with the Knd, 1st, and 2nd grade classes. She talked with us about eating fruits and vegetables, drinking water to stay hydrated, and warming up.

We returned to school after all the snow days and jumped right in with our Jump Rope for Heart event.

Eagles in Action!

We celebrated our third of four PE Buddy Days this year in a big way.  We dropped 100 balls from the balcony in honor of the 100th day of school.  Each class was timed to see how long it took them to pick up 100 balls only picking up one ball at a time.  Then we talked to our buddies and celebrated Chinese New Year with a lantern parade. We ended our day by using PE chopsticks to pick up items from the food buffet.
