Kids Heart Challenge

We had our Kids Heart Challenge. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders rotated through long rope, Chinese jump rope, helicopter and skip-its, and individual and partner jumping. Knd, 1st, and 2nd graders rotated through individual jumping, hula hoops, scooters, and scoops. Each grade level got a whole hour in the gym. For the last 15 minutes we celebrated our hard work by enjoying freezer pops.

Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day by capturing the candy that had been taken by the candy grabbers.

hoop shoot

As part of our basketball unit, students had the choice to take part in a free throw shooting contest.  Each participant got 10 free throws.  They competed against other students in their gender and age group. 124 of our 170 third, fourth, and fifth graders chose to take a risk and compete. Thanks to the local Elks club for providing ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Above is a picture of our ribbon winners.

Winter activities

We continued our winter activities leading up to break by filling our PE stockings with both healthy foods (oranges) and the occasional treat (M&M's). We also celebrated by giving the elves the day off and sending them to the trampoline park where we had to catch them in  a parachute.

Reindeer tag

We are getting ready for winter break by playing some of our winter games, such as Reindeer Tag.

Snow day activities

We had a "snow day" in PE where we did the PE version of snow day activities, such as ice skating, riding a skeleton sled, crawling through a snow tunnel, making snow angels, and being a driver and a rider on a snowmobile.
